V for Vendetta

V for Vendetta opens today, and I can't wait to see it! For those of you who think that it is a "dumb comic book movie", you should really go see it. Written in 1989 by Alan Moore, it is almost more relevant to today's political climate.
If you want to read the original V for Vendetta comic, the Duluth Public Library has it in their collection.
"People Should Not Be Afraid Of Their Governments. Governments Should Be Afraid Of Their People."

I saw this opening night. The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't make you think much. The sides were blakc and white, but other than that, hot-damn is it an awsome movie.

I loved it, even though it's been panned a lot. The best part was that as the credits were rolling; a group of Mpls geeks gave it a standing ovation.

natalie portman as an 11-year-old boy. all my fantasies have congealed.

I, too, saw this opening night after a anxious year of anticipation. Though Hugo Weaving thoroughly surprised me by out-performing Natalie Portman (in my opinion), I don't believe I've ever left a movie theater quite as pissed.

I do reccomend this movie but only if you've never read the comic. The entire time, I couldn't watch the movie as I was mentally noting where the plot diverged from the comic for no good reason. If you'd like to enjoy this movie, DO NOT read the excellent comic first.
