Literacy Volunteers Wanted

Do you enjoy reading with children? Can you commit to one hour per week for three months? If you said yes, please consider becoming a Volunteer Literacy Tutor with the Minnesota Reading Corps and spend time one on one building literacy skills of children in grades K-3. Positions are available at Lowell and Piedmont schools. To learn more, e-mail jaime.jost @ duluth.k12.mn.us. On Twitter: @Duluthreading. We regularly hold literacy events, so if you’d love to volunteer but cannot commit to the time period, consider volunteering for one of our events!

Women’s Words on KUMD

I love this new(ish) show on KUMD. Check out recordings from past shows here [Jill Hinners, Deborah Cooper, Cheryl Reitan, Sheila Packa, Gail Trowbridge, Meredith Cornett (total self-promotion, please forgive me), and many others!]. “Women’s Words” airs at ~1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Sundays as part of the Women’s Music Show. If you are a (woman) writer willing to do a short reading from your work, they want to hear from you!

Experienced tutor seeking new students

I hope posting this isn’t out of line, but my wife told me it was OK. If I’m breaking any rules, please let me know so that I can blame her.

I am an experienced tutor looking for students in the Duluth / Superior area. I have extensive experience with special needs children, especially those on the autism spectrum, as well as those students who just need a little extra help.

Last Day to Celebrate I Love to Read Month!

Kids and parents come and join United Way Success By 6 at the Duluth Public Library for our final Cozy Pajama Story Time!

The last three weeks have been a huge success and we want to make sure more people can enjoy our final story time on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 6:30pm in the Green Room at the library.

Three teen readers from the Boys and Girls Club of Duluth will be reading as a part of a service project.  The stories are expected to go from 6:30-6:50 with a craft activity planned for 6:50-7:15.

It will be another great night of fun during that restless time between dinner and bedtime for your little ones.

February is I Love to Read Month!

Celebrate I Love to Read Month this February with Cozy Pajama Story Time at the Duluth Public Library every Thursday evening in February 6:30-7:15pm!

Feb 3, 10 and 24 in the Green Room
