Mary Bue – “Bones and the Marrow”

Former Duluthian Mary Bue released “Bones and the Marrow” today, a track that will appear on her forthcoming full-length album The Wildness of Living and Dying. Bue is marking the song release with a livestream on Sunday at 3 p.m. CDT on YouTube and Facebook!

Quoth the artist: “The song is a reflection on the quest for finding love not only in a pandemic, but also in a wild and brutal post-divorce dating jungle. Ultimately it’s a healing journey of the broken heart — to slowly, gingerly allow the light to stream in.”

Mary Bue and Laura Seitz – “Aftermath”

Occasional Duluthian Mary Bue‘s new song “Aftermath” is being released today at 7 p.m. with a special livestream benefiting the Minnesota Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Co-written with children’s author Laura Seitz following the suicide of one of her friends, the song documents the grieving process. Seitz grew up in Virginia, Minn. and graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth.

City Pages honors Mary Bue and Sam Cook

Former Duluth-based musician Mary Bue and Duluth News Tribune columnist Sam Cook were honored by City Pages this week in its annual Best of the Twin Cities issue.

Minneapolis-based musician and occaissional Duluthian Mary Bue is poised to record songs for her eighth album, The World is Your Lover — “a collection of songs about the world, players and cheaters, snow falling on sage, the River Styx, gemini eyes, and tomatoes.”

Bue headed to Taos, releasing EP in May

Mary-Bue-2016City Pages reports former Duluthian Mary Bue will soon be living in an adobe casita at Taos, New Mexico, as part of a three-month artist-in-residence program offered by the Wurlitzer Foundation. She’s performing a send-off show Saturday at the Icehouse in Minneapolis with Alan Sparhawk and Molly Maher. In May she’ll release an EP, The Majesty of Beasts, which was recorded in Nashville.
