As the quantity and quality of videos posted on PDD continues to increase, it gets harder and harder to narrow down the standouts from the past year. But here’s what we’ve come up with. It’s a little heavy on music videos, but there’s a touch of everything else in there. Let us know what we may have missed by adding your own favorites in the comments.

 

Woodblind – “Big Voice”

Red Mountain – “Home” (Live on The PlayList)
Once again, the fine folks at WDSE TV’s The PlayList brought us a beautifully produced archive of live Duluth music throughout the year. This video was shot at Bayfront Park during the 2014 Twin Ports Bridge Festival and aired in February 2015. Twelve cameras were at work capturing the Red Mountain mayhem. Superior Siren – “Leone”

Sick, twisted, and ripped from the headlines. Justin Sinks‘ 2015 Homegrown Music Video Festival submission for Giljunko’s “Sunny Side Estates” wins this year’s award for Most Comically Disturbing. Originally posted May 6, 2015.

Maddy Siiter – “Runaway”
Another Homegrown Music Video Fest submission. A great video for a talented young singer by Emily Norton and Killy Kay. Also a nice tribute to one of Duluth’s cutest dogs, Nemo, who passed away earlier this year. Originally posted May 6, 2015

 

Lake Superior Aquaman: Kids Playing on Logs at the Beach
It’s tough to choose one video from prolific contributor Lake Superior Aquaman, but this one really captures the fun of playing in the big lake. Originally posted on June 27, 2015.

If those short videos aren't enough ...

My favorite longer-form video of the year featured Illinois native and 2015 UMD grad Jill Petracek and her strange feet. 

My second-favorite longer-form video of 2015 was the Tysonettes auditions. 

And my third-favorite longer-form video of 2015 is the Homegrown Music Festival's thank you to the outgoing mayor. Disclosure: I'm in it briefly.
