I’ve thought for a long time that Duluth is great on film. I think this does a good job selling our many assets. What did they miss?

Good point, Dave P. I'll bet the icy wasteland aspect of Duluth would be more appealing to a lot of filmmakers than Canal Park.

I'm wondering about the 25 percent cashback thing. Where does that come from?

The last film I know of being made here was called Duluth is Horrible. The whole affair seemed like a West Coast hipster was mocking our fair city while the local yokels ate it all up. Secondly, do you know why it was cheaper for the TV show Fargo to film in Canada? Our neighbors to the north have nationalized health care, this keeps labor costs down for film projects. So how about instead of pandering to Hollywood we take care of our own first and let the rest sort itself out.

Movies shot in Canada are subsidized by the Canadian government. Not that I necessarily advocate subsidizing movies (with current technology, some brilliant kid could write a script and shoot a movie on the frozen wastes of Lake Superior for nothing), but let's get our reasons right.

The old dilapidated cell-block, that gets 'em every time. Who wouldn't want to plan their entire movie around a shitty old jail? So much feeling to be had where the bunk and the toilet meet. And if you're going for gritty, why did you leave everything west of 21st/north of Superior out? You'll want to get some footage inside Super One Foods, deer on lawn or at the gas station, and some raccoons digging through the garbage. Bear cam would be a deal maker too.

Anything in West Duluth, the Wade, Ely's Peak, St. Louis River, Bardon's Peak etc.

That was very well done.  Maybe you could add winter stuff like hockey, skiing  for commercial aspect, but most people know what MN is like in the winter. %25 percent incentive is nice, but what do you have for local rental gear and labor.  Either way I'm in. Just tell them to hire DP Jenn Henry
