Cold Feet: Stories of a Middling Climber is a just-published collection of Duluth writer/climber David Pagel's Everyman adventures on classic peaks and among many of the sport's most legendary mountaineers. Pagel's self-effacing essays (featured in Climbing and Rock & Ice magazines) are modern climbing classics, and his climbs run the gamut from the vertical rock walls of Devils Tower and El Capitan, to snowy alpine ascents of Denali, the Matterhorn, and the mythic North Face of the Eiger -- plus a section devoted entirely to Midwestern climbing, including the North Shore. More details on Facebook.

Our friends at Loll Designs started putting wheels on stuff. They now have a kid's push bike, and they teamed up with Grow Anthology to make the Lollygagger Longboard.

I'm too big, old, clumsy and fragile for either of them, I'll stick to the chairs.

Thanks for putting this out there each year Brian & PDD! The feature at Happy Space this year (which only means "most related to the holiday window display") is the MinneYoda line of Ts, hoodies, onesies, etc. Happy Holiday Season to you all!

All great people and items represented here! For consideration I would recommend a Duluth Crate Co. art print or even check out the current Kickstarter campaign where I'm expanding the line of fruit-crate-inspired illustration prints to other places around the US of A. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

backyard almanac

A new version of this 365-day journal of daily natural history was released this past summer. Author Larry Weber takes a lesson-a-day approach to teaching readers about the insects, trees, wildflowers, frogs and other things one might find in a northern Minnesota backyard. The original version came out in 1995. This one is updated and has a sexier cover, featuring illustrations by Judy Gibbs, whose work also accompanies every entry in the book. It's available on Amazon and probably any bookstore in town.

It's getting late, but there's always gift cards. Pizza Lucé produced three videos explaining if you buy a $100 gift card, you get $25 for yourself.
