ToastysNight_MG_9732

The sign on the building has been up since last Spring, and now Toasty’s is open.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily
Address: 1032 E. Ninth St.
Owners: Rachael and Tom Hagen

So far it seems they don’t have a website or Facebook page, but here’s a menu, click to see them bigger.

The food was good, I got the Arriba Arriba and a salad. Came with tasty corn chips and a pickle, plenty of food for a big guy. Couldn’t eat all my chips or the toast that came with the salad. Others at the table got the Bruchetta and gave it thumbs up, and the picky eater at the table got the Chip and a Chedd and gave it the thumbs up. Only criticism any of us had was the ranch dressing was a little bland, but the rest of the stuff on the salad was really good. Toast was, as you’d expect, nicely toasted.

They seem be doing some good business, the few times I've driven by there's always been a least few people in there. Has anyone tried them out yet? Maybe if they're real good we could get them on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives someday.

I totally missed your statements about how it was. Where's the edit button? lol

I thought blandness was the hallmark of ranch dressing.

As an aside, I stopped in to 8th St. video in Lakeside, and neither of the chuckleheads working there had ever heard of Steve.

Scandalized.

Less than impressed. I do hope it does well, but the taste factor overshadows the novelty. Being a Dead Lot Veteran and somewhat of a Grilled Cheese Expert, I guess I was expecting something different.

Perhaps stick with the basic and skip the frou next time?

I finally made it here for a bite to eat. I had the roasted mushroom sandwich and was really happy with it. Great ingredients, nicely prepared, and nice flavors. My friend had the Arriba Arriba and I might have liked it a little better than the mushroom. The lime flavor mixed with the savory cheese and avocado was awesome.

A cozy restaurant and super friendly staff. I love the hardwood floors and unique chairs and tables.

Update: Toasty's closed its Duluth Hillside operation on March 25, 2019. Structural problems with the building were cited as the reason.
