This week: polka, herring and berserking

Here’s a sampling of what you have to look forward to this week on the PDD Calendar.

Chester Bowl Park kicks off its series of Tuesday outdoor concerts with the Chmielewski Funtime Band.

Sing! sings and celebrates 15 years at The Underground on Wednesday.

The Red Herring opens its doors on Thursday to kick off a weekend long grand opening.

The second annual Berserkon is where gamers and cosplayers can get their nerd on at the DECC Friday through Sunday.

Or you can polka until you can’t polka no more at the International Polka Fest this weekend at Black Bear Casino.

So what are you doing this week? Can we tag along? Any upcoming events that you want to promote? Let us know.

Don't forget the Celebration of Wildwoods at Hartley Nature Center on Saturday!

The event celebrates the work of Wildwoods, the local wildlife rehabilitation facility serving the entire Arrowhead region.

The event will include some music (I am most excited to know that Gaelynn of Snobarn is scheduled to appear).

But most importantly, it will include food and drink.
New Scenic Cafe
Canal Park Brewery
Lake Superior Brewery
Thirsty Pagan
Cupcake Lady
Tycoons
Food magic catering.
I can't exactly say I know what kind of awesome will be served, literally, because I can't pronounce some of it. I was told that one of the awesome partner food and drink suppliers is considering "Pate' / vol au vent / lingonberry / mustard seed / scallion" -- sounds tasty! I have no idea what it is!

There will be a silent auction. It will include:
Vacation stays in Caribbean and Vegas.
Original and local artwork.
Custom jewelry.
Cool t shirts.

But if you would ask me why I would go, I would go for the same reason I will also be going to Berserkon -- because this event is where my people will be, people who care passionately (or even recreationally) about the environment and nature and our furry, feathered, and amphibious friends.

Adult tickets are $20; child tickets (5-12) are $10; kids under five free! You can buy tickets at Duluth Grill, Perk Place Coffee in Kenwood, and at Whole Foods. You can also buy them online! http://www.eventbrite.com/e/celebration-of-our-wildwoods-tickets-11756386669?aff=es2&rank=1
