Dragon boating — it’s not just one weekend a year

20 paddlers. One person steering. One calling commands. One long, Chinese-design canoe.  Add these all up and you get a great workout on the water with great people.

Sure, there are national and international competitions for superb athletes and there are even some in this area that will tell you all about how they are national champions, if you care. But dragon boating is truly everyone’s sport and Blue Water Paddling wants you to try it out.

We are a nonprofit club operating out of Barker’s Island. We are for individuals looking for a new fitness activity and we are for groups or teams that want to paddle beyond the one weekend event of the year. Our founding team, Team Surge, has been on the water for a couple of weeks and is training to race in many events in the Midwest this summer. We have new teams forming and plenty of opportunities for you join us to get in on the fun no matter what your commitment level.  We also paddle six-man outrigger canoes to change it up and take ventures out onto the Big Lake when the weather cooperates.

Check us out on Facebook or our mediocre Web Page and consider joining us for a free session of dragon boat paddling.
