Porcupine in Need

Via the founders of Wildwoods:

When we first got her yesterday morning, we thought she might die. She was found by the highway, likely hit by a car. Though she had no fractures, this porcupine looked just terrible.

However, as the day wore on, she started moving around a bit and eating a bit. And scolding us, relentlessly (hey Missy, we didn’t hit you with a car!). Still, she was very off balance, favoring one leg and sometimes falling over.

But oh wow — look at our girl today! She’s sitting and standing all by herself! And eating? Oh my, yes. Ian thinks she might be a porcu-pig…

Thanks to Jadell C. for picking her up from the roadside and bringing her in, to Dr. Lisa J. for x-raying her and checking her over, to Ian and the other volunteers for caring for her, and to Trudy for these great pics. She has been transported to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Roseville.
