Continuing my posting of FY 2013 grantees with implications for Duluth.

Partners in Arts Participation
Project grants to nonprofit or public human service organizations to give underserved individuals or groups opportunities to experience the arts.

Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, Saint Paul $21,722
Wilder will remove barriers for 323 low income children, families, and elders to participate in a wide variety of arts activities by collaborating with nine arts organizations.

Bancroft Neighborhood Association, Minneapolis $9,900
Pillsbury House Theatre’s Breaking Ice ensemble will meet with community members, then develop and present performances and facilitate discussions exploring gentrification in the Bancroft community.

Benedictine Health System, Duluth $6,166
Benedictine Health Center (BHC) will work with the Duluth Art Institute (DAI) to provide 24 art classes at BHC and four field trips to the DAI galleries.

Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota, Saint Cloud $15,015
Boys and Girls Club will partner with GREAT Theatre to deepen and expand drama programming at three Clubs. GREAT Theatre will provide three theater camps and increase audience participatory opportunities.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester, Rochester $9,000
Boys and Girls Club of Rochester will introduce underserved and underrepresented youth to the arts and increase their arts participation by connecting them with Rochester’s arts community.

Catholic Charities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Minneapolis $25,000
Catholic Charities will use the Children’s Theatre Company’s storytelling and critical thinking program, Early Bridges, to enhance its early education program for very low income children in North Minneapolis.

Cleveland Neighborhood Association, Minneapolis $21,000
The Cleveland Neighborhood Association (CNA), a resident-driven organization, in collaboration with Juxtaposition Arts, will employ an artist-in-residence to provide creative direction in its work.

Corcoran Neighborhood Organization, Minneapolis $25,000
Corcoran Neighborhood Organization will partner with Forecast Public Art and work with three artists to create an interactive art event that shapes a new identity for the South High Athletic Field as part of planned improvements for the neighborhood’s 21st Avenue transit corridor.

Developmental Achievement Center of Bemidji, Bemidji $8,100
Two actor-educators from CLIMB Theatre will visit the Developmental Achievement Center of Bemidji six times to provide developmentally appropriate theater for 60 adult consumers with varying degrees of disability.

Falls DAC, Thief River Falls $8,100
Two actor-educators from CLIMB Theatre will visit Falls DAC six times to provide developmentally appropriate theater to 32 adult consumers with varying degrees of disability.

Family Partnership, Minneapolis $12,300
The Family Partnership will bring Magic Lantern Theater artists to its Multicultural Therapeutic Preschools to perform puppet shows, teach workshops, and give away books at a family reading event.

FamilyMeans, Stillwater $7,400
FamilyMeans will provide a high quality arts experience, using Kairos ALIVE artists, for its Day Out! program that serves seniors dealing with chronic illnesses and frailty.

Friendship Ventures, Annandale $20,800
CLIMB Theatre will facilitate interactive programming at five Camps of Courage and Friendship locations, working with campers with special needs to build theater skills and enhance their camp experience. Through 24 days of programming CLIMB will reach 1200 campers.

Hands Across the World, Saint Cloud $9,500
Hands Across the World, a local agency that serves newly arrived refugees, will contract with Paramount Theatre to provide 36 weeks of varied art classes. The classes will provide a means for clients to have artistic expression while building language, fine motor, social norm, income producing, and relational skills. A public exhibit will end the sessions.

Home and Community Options Inc., Winona $15,010
Home and Community Options will sponsor community theater that is inclusive of people with disabilities and other talented performers to improve community integration and valued roles for all abilities.

Jordan Towers Resident Council, Red Wing $5,000
140 residents of Jordan Towers will attend 7 performances at The Sheldon Theatre during the 2013-14 season; two of the seven artists or performing groups will provide an outreach service at the Towers.

Karen Organization of Minnesota, Saint Paul $8,000
Twelve to fifteen Karen teenagers and professional artists will create and perform From Jungle to Jungle, a presentation of the journey of the Karen to the United States.

Lyngblomsten, Saint Paul $25,000
Lyngblomsten will significantly expand life-enhancing arts engagement opportunities to older adults participating in Lyngblomsten programs throughout the greater metro area.

Mahube-Otwa Community Action Partnership, Inc., Detroit Lakes $5,000
Productions of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Carousel will be presented six times in the Park Rapids area. Low income parents and children can attend together to have a meaningful family experience while developing an appreciation for the arts.

Main Street Industries and Training Center, Inc., Clinton $17,400
Liz Rackl will explore spontaneous expression with adults with disabilities, who will share their art to build community awareness/partnerships via displays, social media, and fundraising.

Midtown Greenway Coalition, Minneapolis $25,000
The Midtown Greenway Coalition (MGC) will partner with Forecast Public Art and work with three artists to create an interactive art event that shapes a new identity for the Kix Soccer Field as part of MGC’s mission to expand performance arts along the greenway.

Northland Area Family Service Center, Remer $25,000
Northland Family Center and Screen Porch Productions will create and implement a week-long Creative Arts Camp for Kids in four separate diverse rural communities in Cass County.

Northwest Head Start, Badger $14,700
CLIMB Theatre will visit nine Northwest Community Action Head Start sites four times with theatrical classes, facilitating a total of 56 classes, with approximately 300 students and 30 teachers from northern Minnesota.

Northwest Youth and Family Services, Shoreview $6,525
The Zenon Dance Company will partner with Northwest Youth and Family Services’ Northwest Educational and Therapeutic Services (NETS) for a one-week program that helps the student reach their goals through participation in the arts.

Our Saviour’s Housing Program, Minneapolis $25,000
Our Saviour’s Housing and ArtiCulture will collaborate to offer five, four-week art class sessions for adult men and women experiencing homelessness, who currently stay in an emergency shelter.

Park Avenue Youth and Family Services, Minneapolis $9,200
During our Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program, youth will work with two artists around the themes: I can make a difference in my self, my family, my community, my country, and my world.

Phyllis Wheatley Community Center, Minneapolis $9,500
The 2013 Explorers Program will focus heavily on a variety of art forms with the goal of sharing key concepts from the program through an interactive parade for the community at National Night Out.

Project FINE, Winona $7,270
Project FINE will provide transportation, admission, and childcare for immigrants and refugees in Winona County who are otherwise unable take part in a performing arts experience.

Saint Anthony Park Community Council, Saint Paul $10,000
Bikes, designed by artists with community involvement, will showcase our creative neighborhood, encourage alternative transportation, and engage artists and community members in a fun arts activity displayed on the street this summer and fall.

TSE Inc., Roseville $6,300
TSE will create an artist-in-residence weaving program to support Weavers Guild teaching artists for six TSE students. The project will focus on learning opportunities to achieve business development.

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, Inc., Minneapolis $14,000
Twin Cities Habitat families will work with a textile artist to create two fiber art pieces highlighting their art traditions for Habitat constituents and the public to view in the organization’s new headquarters.

Veterans For Peace, Minnesota Chapter 27, Minneapolis $8,700
Sculptor Gita Ghei and veteran artist Chante Wolf will lead military veterans, some from the Veterans for Peace Organization, in two metal casting workshops using sustainable processes.

Vietnamese Social Services of Minnesota, Saint Paul $22,692
Vietnamese Social Services of Minnesota will foster meaningful partnerships by exposing the east side of Saint Paul to various arts organizations. The goals of the program are to enrich the lives of youth and to build relationships.

White Earth Head Start, White Earth $11,000
CLIMB Theatre will visit six White Earth Head Start sites four times with theatrical classes, facilitating a total of 36 classes, with approximately 160 students and 30 teachers from northwest Minnesota.

WorkAbilities Inc., Golden Valley $5,900
CLIMB Theater will partner with WorkAbilities to bring seven days of theater classes, designed to build social skills, to 230 adults with special needs.

Youth Farm and Market Project, Minneapolis $22,800
Youth Farm and Saint Olaf Community Campus will partner with Juxtaposition Arts to implement an intergenerational art program promoting healthy food access at a communal farm in North Minneapolis.

YouthLink, Minneapolis $25,000
YouthLink will support homeless youth by connecting them to the artistic community. It will work with Kulture Klub Collaborative to host weekly performance workshops with professional artists.
