Solitude Hill – Woodlawn Cemetery

triple-cross

This tiny old cemetery is about three miles off of Tower Avenue in Parkland, a town south of the city of Superior and east of the town and village of Superior, near the Nemadji Golf Club, at the end of Cemetery Road.

Apparently it’s called “Solitude Hill,” despite the fact that a short distance away is a shot-up orange sign that reads: “No hunting or trespassing without permission. Only NRA members need apply.”

Is it haunted? Go there at night and then let us know.

Looks a lot like this one: Old Cemetery

It's the Woodland Cemetery; here's a researcher's report from 2001.

So I actually commented on Dave's post back in 2009, but failed to connect that I was writing this post about the same cemetery. Call it a summer rerun. At least now we know the name of the place, though. Thanks, Akjuneau.

@Paul: If you are out in the area again there is an even better cemetery located off of County Road Z on the left side heading east (you could hit up the Kountry Quarthouse after) which I believe is almost forgotten and extremely eerie. Cheers to ghost hunting!

It's actually Woodlawn Cemetery. Looks like it was corrected since this original posting.

I was just there the other day, it is the very same Cleta mentioned, off County Road Z to the left heading east, on Cemetery Road. The last person buried there was in 1973. Fascinating place, but the gunshot vandalism pissed me off.

Indeed. The old page "Woodland" page is still up, but now there is an updated "Woodlawn" page.

I didn't notice before that the old page has this map, as does the new page, which both reference "Woodlawn."
