The Arrowhead Regional Arts Council has several openings on its board of directors. It is seeking applications from individuals who reside in Cook County, Koochiching County, Duluth, as well as one or two at-large representatives, and possibly one college student liaison.
ARAC is a non-profit corporation offering grant support and technical assistance to individual artists and non-profit arts organizations within the seven counties of the Arrowhead Region: Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis.
ARAC is looking for individuals with knowledge of the arts, as well as artists working in our regional arts communities. The ARAC Board meets on the third Thursday of each month except August and December. Council Board members develop programs that stimulate the regional arts community and award project-based funding to regional arts organizations and individual artists. Board members serve as volunteers, but are reimbursed mileage for attending ARAC meetings and activities. Board terms are three years, though a Board member may serve two consecutive terms.
ARAC administers ten artistic grant programs and has awarded over $490,000 this past fiscal year. These programs are made possible through funding from the Minnesota State Legislature: the Legacy Amendment passed by a vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008, as well as an appropriation from the State Legislature, and The McKnight Foundation. The Council works in partnership with the Minnesota State Arts Board and the ten other Regional Arts Councils to promote the arts throughout Minnesota.
The current deadline for submitting an application is
Friday, June 28.
The available terms run from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2016. Board applications may be found at aracouncil.org. For more information about the ARAC Board and its programs, contact the ARAC office at email@example.com, or 218-722-0952 or 800-569-8134.
