I once got inside this when I was looking for old records from the water intake for some research. There is an old belt-driven machine shop still inside. Very very cool.

PDD users are a quick lot. Yes, Suzy, that’s the Duluth Water Pumping Station on Congdon Blvd just before Lakewood Road.
AKA “the Red Castle,” visits to which I used to use as a carrot to get our kids to refrain from freaking out when I ran with them in the jogger.
It’s a very cool building.

It probably used coal fired steam pumps.
All I know is that the boys who grew up in French River used to break into this place all the time. Wearing cloaks because D&D does that to a boy.
