It looks Morgan Parky to me, but I get the feeling it is elsewhere.
I keep thinking it is something off the wall in the IBEW union hall over under/behind the Reef, but the hat is throwing me off. Looks like more of a safari hat than a hard hat.
It looks like the taconite guy in Two Harbors, though the Two Harbors guy looks all friendly and cheerful, and this guy looks like he’s about garrote someone. Is it somewhere near the ore docks?
It’s west of Acme Tools, but that’s the closest guess so far, geographically.
By the way, when I note “west” or “east” I use those terms in the general Duluth sense and not as actual compass points. So west means southwest, technically. But you all knew that, right?
I’m not sure if this photo mystery is extra challenging or if the weekend before Christmas was a bad time to launch a “Where in Duluth?” but we’re now up to three days without a correct answer, which is much longer than it usually takes.
So I’ll throw in an incentive. The person who solves this “Where in Duluth?” will win a rare PDD can koozie — not for sale in stores; only 22 in existence; street value easily $6,000.
You can use it on your beer bottle or your soda can …
… or on your unlabeled Cosmic Ginger handcrafted lemon and ginger elixer, or you can force canned vegetables into it for all I care.
I think this one might be the record holder at four days. Lawrence Lee posted one over Labor Day weekend that took three days to solve, so apparently this little game doesn’t mix well with holidays.
Wild guess: BendTec?
That’s a very intelligent guess, but incorrect.
A school wall in Morgan Park.
A Morgan Park mascot transferred to the Lincoln Park Middle School gym.
Sorry, that is no wildcat.
Purely a guess: M.E. Global?
It looks Morgan Parky to me, but I get the feeling it is elsewhere.
I keep thinking it is something off the wall in the IBEW union hall over under/behind the Reef, but the hat is throwing me off. Looks like more of a safari hat than a hard hat.
It is east of M.E. Global and west of the Reef Bar.
It looks like a Brian Barber drawing- if he had a cutting torch.
It looks like the taconite guy in Two Harbors, though the Two Harbors guy looks all friendly and cheerful, and this guy looks like he’s about garrote someone. Is it somewhere near the ore docks?
It’s west of the ore docks.
Bayside Recycling?
It’s west of Bayside Recycling.
Acme tools?

Let’s see if that smartens you folks up.
The Lake Superior Zoo?
Now you’re just taking a guess to narrow down the terrain, right? I suppose that’s fair.
It’s east of the zoo.
ASDCO Industrial & Construction
No guess, but for what it’s worth that looks more like a pith helmet on him. At first I assumed it was a hard hat.
It is west of ASDCO. I don’t know anything about what kind of helmet that character is wearing.
Could be an old school hard hat. Okay, guessing my way west….Jamar? They do some custom metal fab.
West of Jamar.
Demolicious?
It is not Demolicious, but you are only a half mile off.
Wild West Liquor?
Wild West Liquor is pretty much exactly as far away from the correct location as Demolicious is.
Either Moline or New Page.
Moline Machinery is the closest guess so far.
The instagraminess of the pic makes it look like it is indoors- yes?
Nope, it was shot outdoors.
All I know is that someone should get into hand modeling. Wear oven mitts at all times.
Just a guess … Duluth Steel Fabricators, 5900 Main St.
Bob L. is the winner!
Merry Christmas, Bob. May your hand never shiver from a cold drink again.
What is the longest running “Where in Duluth?” thread (this was fun)?
I think this one might be the record holder at four days. Lawrence Lee posted one over Labor Day weekend that took three days to solve, so apparently this little game doesn’t mix well with holidays.
New Years Eve is coming- let’s go!
