Rosie’s Taco Trailer in Duluth Heights
By MJH on Oct 17, 2012 in Restaurants
I never post anything here, but I felt it was my civic duty to inform the PDD community about Un Taco Mas by Rosie, a taco trailer in the parking lot of Old World Meats. Rosie is from San Antonio, Texas, and makes the best taco I have had in Duluth. I had one carne asada and one carne quisada. She made the flour tortillas fresh while I waited, the filling was amazing. She has a full breakfast menu as well, she is there from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. It is on the corner of Basswood Avenue and Central Entrance. The place is very much worth the visit.

This sounds very exciting. I am going to go. Again, though, no pictures of the food? I don’t understand why people don’t take pictures of what they eat. It’s uncivilized.
Thanks for the heads up. Wish there was a way to view a menu online. I am curious what kind of vegetarian burritos she can whip up.
How were the prices?
I am so happy that food trucks have finally come to Duluth! Chow Haul makes great chicken tacos. Will have to try Rosie’s tacos if she has chicken or vegetarian. Thanks for the tip!
A friend linked this on my Facebook, and as a transplanted Texan I immediately felt obliged to drive up the hill and try some tacos. I chatted with the very pleasant proprietor, and she suggested I come back Saturday morning for some menudo. The tacos (I had 1 bean and cheese, and 1 picadillo) were legit, and the salsa was juuust right. Will definitely be going back frequently for a taste of home.
Oh God, could it be??? Finally??? Tasty tacos in Duluth?
I added a photo to MJH’s post above, and here’s another angle.
Hatcher, I always find that pictures of food are generally gross looking, even when the food is good, but here’s a photo of the Garne Asada and Chicken Fahita.
They do not provide picnic blankets — I brought that. Also, like 7 West Tap House, they don’t have any water to provide — or any beverages at all for that matter. You can get drinks at Old World Meats, though.
Here’s the menu:
Important note: Rosie said she is closing on Saturday and won’t be open again until the permit for her business is processed by the city. So, go now or wait for the grand opening post-bureaucracy.
What if she doesn’t supply free water with her meals, then what will you people do? Muhahaha.
Paul, thank you for posting the menu. I have a question--we were going here Saturday/tomorrow. Sorry to be dense, but can you clarify: is Rosie open tomorrow and then that’s it, or is today the last open day until the permits get processed?
She said she’ll be open on Saturday.
Thanks!
REALLY good lunch/dinner plates! It is a “must try”!
I just had two chicken tacos a la carte. for $3.25 each. They were good, the flour tortillas were fabulous and very fresh. But I think, overall, I like Chow Haul’s chicken tacos better. These were pretty yummy though, and very authentic.
I’ll have to try the lunch/dinner plates. They’re $7 each, and look like a real deal if you are hungry.
Hey I just noticed Paul did not say whether he liked the food. Did you?
I did like the food, but I like everything, so my opinion shouldn’t be trusted.
We tried it last night. Had a carne asada plate and a carne guisada plate. Both were very tasty. It was not a ton of food for $7.
Lake Voice has published a story on the ol’ taco trailer.

Any word on if the taco stand will be back this spring/summer?
The truck is still there, but boarded up for winter. Hopefully she’ll be opening back up soon.
Food trucks owners: for the love of crackers, please do not drop the ball and miss out on Homegrown completely.
