Martin Road for sale?

I am a resident of Rice Lake township, just outside of the city limits. We moved here 1.5 years ago … since then I have noticed an increase of houses for sale along Martin Road. Does anyone have any insight on why so many houses are for sale along Martin Road between Arnold and Rice Lake roads? We love our house and where we live, so we are slightly concerned.

Hi there! I think I know you … don’t worry, it has been like that ever since we moved back to Duluth.
I live on this same stretch of road. The noise has always been a factor here. I think a lot of people get a taste of the semi-rural life at the nice price, then move further out or back into town. Busy stretches of road always seem to have a lot of real estate up for sale.
I read something on a county site that Martin Road is going to be rebuilt in the next few years, so that could be a factor as well.
At least two houses recently for sale on that part of Martin Road are because the elderly owners died or decided to move into town. A third has been on the market for at least five years. I don’t think there’s any kind of mass exodus; the signs just really do stand out along that stretch of road.
“The Martin Road” if you are from Duluth.
I grew up on Gothenburg, and we never called it “the martin road”
Huh. Off topic, but new feature in ios6
Yea, assessments for new construction could be a factor.
I would also venture a guess that a lot of the people who purchased these properties did it while prices were inflated and they had ARM’s or other mortgage types that put them in a bind.
lojasmo -- you made reference to the new ios6. I just upgraded my iPad but haven’t done my iPhone yet.
The cons of upgrading could be a whole ‘nother post. Blahh.
I haven’t seen any problems. Works pretty slick on my 4s, and my ipad3.
