Lost tropical bird

I can see what looks like a cockatiel (although I am not good about knowing bird types) flying through my neighborhood, Chester Park, by Sara’s Table. It’s been flying between 9th and 10th streets, the 1800 block. It’s been sitting in the tall fir trees in the neighborhood.  If you know someone who has lost a bird, please let them know. It seems to be calling out, and it’s pretty loud, but will calm down if talked to.  It will not come to me, though.

I know the owner of the bird and will direct him to this post. "Chirpy" landed in my tree a few days ago before he flew away for good, I know the owners miss him very much and hopefully will get him back.

I heard it was rescued today, my friend who lives near there filmed the rescue.

The bird has been rescued, the owner came by to let us know he was down and safe. He was a bit worried because it was supposed to get pretty cold tonight. Thanks to all those who kept an eye out.

The bird's name is Twerpie, there could not have been more than one tropical bird rescued by the Duluth Fire Department in the Chester neighborhood this week.

As soon as I saw this post -- just after jillanna posted it -- I called my friend Bruce, who has a way with birds and reuniting them with their humans.

Check out the fantastic video Bruce took of the rescue of Twirpy the bird by the Duluth Fire Department and his owner:

Bravo, Bruce, friend of the birds. You wonderfully captured Twirpy the bird's rescue. I'm so glad that I called you just as soon as the post about missing Twirpy was posted on Perfect Duluth Day, and that you were able to film the entirety of his successful return to his human.

Bruce isn't on PDD, but wanted me to post this here, and noted:

"I didn't get the name of or any info about Twirpy's owner and I'm sure he would like to see this video."

Thanks PDD, and thanks Bruce.

Thanks everyone! Turns out the bird belonged to my friend Charlie, so I called him and he came, and eventually, thanks to the Fire Dept, Twerpie was saved. Facebook actually helped a great deal in this case.
