Not everyone celebrates a new book with a run around the periphery of Manhattan. But for Scott Jurek, author of "Eat & Run: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness," it was a fitting way to kick off the launch.</blockquote>

That's cool. Thanks for posting. I would never have heard of it but I am interested. I think ultra marathoning is crazy and too hard on the body but to each their own. I also find that a lot of the long distance material, be it written or in documentaries, is often an ego trip for the person so I think it's funny you mention that.

I am vegan so it's cool to hear about extreme athletes kicking it vegan. There is so much false information about vegan nutrition that cases like Scott's story hold a lot of meaning when trying to explain it to others.

@FranceneStarr: Colleen Patrick-Goudreau's podcast on iTunes or CompassionateCooks.com is what finally turned me from a vegetarian of 10 years to vegan and now I feel so good and my biometrics like cholesterol and body weight have gotten back to being in the normal/good that I wish I would have turned years ago. She can be blunt at times but the podcast is worth a look.

This sounds good -- I am NOT a runner by any means -- but "almost" a vegetarian --and veganism interests me, as long as the person talking about it is not preachy.
