Paul: if you type “<” and “>” instead of “<” and “>”, they will be replaced by “<” and “>” in your comment without showing up as a link. “lt” stands for less than and “gt” stands for greater than.

“The canal was the site of a <a href=”http://zenithcity.com/zenith-city-history-archives/myths-notorious-tales/casualties-of-the-canal/” target=”_blank”>previous bear encounter</a> back in 1946.”

becomes

“The canal was the site of a previous bear encounter back in 1946.”

once you submit it, without becoming a link.

(Likewise, “&” will show up as “&” once you submit the comment, so you can type “<” to write “<” without it being converted to “<”.)
