Recommendations for a new gas hook up?

It’s still a couple weeks before I move back to town (second-time transplant) but I figured here would be a good place to get a recommendation for services. I’m pretty handy around the house but when it comes to gas lines I’d rather leave it to the professionals.

I need to get a gas hook up for a stove put in (the house is on city gas lines, just doesn’t have a valve run for the stove). The house currently has a broken electric stove, and if I have to replace it anyway, I’m going gas. Sure I could look around online and make a list and just start calling for quotes … but I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

I recently hooked up a gas stove.  We already had a gas stove in place.  I followed all of the directions, dotted all the I's and crossed the T's but I was still a little nervous about it so we called Comfort Systems.  They sent out a technician to check all of my connections and I think he did make a few adjustments.  For some reason they didn't even charge me for the visit - maybe it is something they do for gas customers to make sure they don't explode, thus losing a customer?  Anyway, I have been very happy with the prompt service and professionalism and low cost of Comfort Systems technicians over the years.

Any competent plumber can add a valve and run a line for a stove. Comfort Systems will inspect and light your pilot for you, too. Though that should not be confused with a City Building Inspection -- the necessity of which your plumber can advise you based on the need for a permit.

Thanks, I'll probably give AG OBrien a call! I'm fine with connecting lines & lighting pilots, splicing in to gas lines and installing new valves is the scary stuff.
