This is hilarious. Glitter is a gateway protest and leads directly to acid and grenades.

Seriously??? When did The Onion take over the DNT?

Arresting glitterbombers would be stupid. Fining them would not be. Why? Because while we do have a right to peaceful protest, we don't have a right to protest by running up and throwing anything at anyone for any reason.

I also feel that the DNT has a good point about security mistaking a glitter bomber's intent and that person getting shot or tasered. Do you think the Secret Service would hesitate if someone approached Obama to glitter bomb him? What about further down the campaign trail when Secret Service is with the all the candidates?

The DNT makes a great point about people trying to one up each other and that doesn't need to mean acid and grenades, but could mean those party poppers that could be mistaken for the sound of a gun. Agents are trained to react and sort out the truth later remember.

So arrests? No. Fines? You bet.

@Hot Shot: spot on!

Also, I kind of feel like nasty spewing things that come from certain GOP politicians' mouths (ie: Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann) can only be counter-balanced with spewing glitter.

With the exception of Rick Santorum.

[Insert bad joke about spewing fecal matter and lubricant here.]

Jadiaz, Romney got glitter bombed Tuesday night after his speech. I was actually watching it as it happened live on CNN. Romney already has Secret Service protection, and they ushered the guy out of there quick. And this guy has already been arrested and faces a slew of charges, including a felony, which is a pretty ridiculous punishment for attempting to throw glitter. Seriously, murders and rapists get away with less punishment than this kid.

How about those who make confetti out of the constitution? How about those who drop real bombs, destroying two countries? How about the banksters who wielded all those weapons of mass financial destruction? No calls for consequences for them.

Did you even read what I wrote Tom? I said fine them. That's it. Not that I think it should be a felony or that anyone should be arrested for it. To say that these idiots deserve no type of punishment is plain foolish. They are still throwing something at another individual to cause public humiliation. It doesn't matter what your political stance, that is plain wrong for anyone to do.

Please read what I write instead of just assuming I'm OK with arrests and felony charges for this, cause I'm not. Only fines.

Jadiaz, I referred to you mostly in response to your comment about "further down the campaign trail when Secret Service is with the all the candidates." I was trying to point out Romney already has Secret Service protection and how well they handled the situation. Then I went off on my own opinion about how the guy was arrested (which you said you didn't agree with). It's pretty safe to assume that with a felony charge, he's going to see a lot more than just a fine. So by that point I had pretty much moved on from what you were talking about and I was just voicing my own opinion about the whole thing.

I don't know what the hell your problem is or why you seem to think you're the center of attention, but, unless the PDD rules have abruptly changed, I think I'm allowed to point out a fact to you AND have my own opinion on the whole issue in the same comment.

I feel glitter is glitter. It doesn't hurt anyone and no one's going to die from it...it doesn't ruin anything or really make a fool out of anyone except for the glitter-thrower. I mean really...if you can be "humiliated" by some douche throwing glitter at you you're probably not ready to be a politician.

Glitter is a gateway to sparkle and we all know what sparkles lead to:
