Duluth’s Limerick, 2012 Version

There was an old man from Duluth
Who wept when he thought of the truth,
Remembering the chances with lots of refinances
and once while at Fon-Du-Luth.

(apologies, as I’m not really a good poet…)

Here is the original:
There once was an old maid from Duluth
Who wept when she thought of her youth
of all the missed chances at her school dances
and once in a telephone booth.

In Duluth the cops raided a store,
Carrying hard drives and cash out the door.
Of crimes, there were none,
But it still was quite fun
To hear people approvingly roar.

There once was a town on a lake
Where snowfall was barely a flake.
The people felt thirst
When the water mains burst,
And failed their showers to take.

There once was a guy who wrote books
Of taxicabs, gangsters and crooks.
A break he would take
To stare at the lake
And pen blog rhymes with multiple hooks.

A black bear named Faith had a face
Beamed out by a web cam to space.
When Denny retired,
The newsmen, inspired,
Put Faith in the chair in his place.

"It's the best job I've had!" the bard brayed.
"All these sentences diced and filleted!
The making of lists,
The distilling of gists;
Now where do I go to get paid?"

A man who was often depressed
Woke up with a quiver of zest.
He beamed like a boy
And shouted for joy,
"I haven't been cured, I've been Nessed!"
