Question about Nerd Night

I was wondering about the tone of the Nerd Night events at Teatro Zuccone, as in, are they appropriate for children? I have an 11-year-old boy with Asperger syndrome who probably would like to see the robotics demonstration, but I don’t want to put him into any situations that he would not understand. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch people!

I wouldn't think twice about bringing my kid. I've only been to a few, but they were tame.

It probably wouldn't be too traumatizing or offensive to children, but it may be very difficult for the nerds to let their hair down with a child in the audience.

Wednesday's show will be family friendly, just due to the fact that "REAL. ROBOTS. on STAGE!" When the Duluth East team was booked, the Nerd Nite Team immediately decided to have its presentation go on at 7:30 and run for .5 hour.  This will give the audience a lot of time to ask questions and oooh and aaahhh!  .5 an hour will also get the high school students a chance to show off what they can do and have a couple moments in the spotlight.

While Nerd Nites can have racier material, we always strive to offer more of a "That's what she said" type of vibe. (Some of the emcees have a tendency to blush at everything).  Our other presentations about personality inventories and TV tropes will also be family friendly but aimed at older adults who remember Happy Days.

I've only been to one but I loved it.  One thing is that there is a lot of banter, inside jokes and occasional sarcasm between passionate audience members and presenters that could be confusing for your son if he's not prepared. On the other hand, I'm very socially awkward so maybe it just stood out for me as I never know quite how to act in those situations. I guess I'd bring him if I was the dad.  Oh, tell him it can get loud, too.
