Why didn't we hear about that in advance? The sun events that cause it are easily known in advance. Where can I watch for this so I can keep an eye out?

astrobob's blog on the DNT website is a good resource for this. Otherwise, NOAA has a good forecast on its website. Someday I'll learn how to hyperlink text.

I've added the link to Astro Bob's blog. Bob has been writing this blog daily for atleast the past couple years. Be sure to check out the Planetarium at UMD every Wednesday and Friday 7pm - shows are free. They will be re-opening after renovating on Sept 2.

Check the site for details.
