Tangier 57 needs you!

Local space-lounge band Tangier 57 is playing on The Playlist this Thursday night. We’d like to recreate the melbatoasty goodness that is/was the Lawrence Welk Show. Bubble machine, glaring colors, haute smarm and all. One of the key elements of any LW show was cutaways to the audience polkaing, shadishing, waltzing and possibly even target=”blank”>”frugging”. You know what I’m talking about … there’s your grandma and grandpa, much younger but still super dorky, looking insanely proud in technicolor. Her in her horn rims and beaufant and seafoam sleeveless and him in his buddy holly glasses and cufflinks.
So, here’s where you come in … We’re asking for anyone with a 50′s 60′s vintage clothes fetish to come up to Channel 8 and be the studio dancers for the audience cutaways. We can’t promise anything other than fun, our undying appreciation and admiration and that all your friends will be at home laughing their arses off at you … don’t worry, it’s painless and fun after you get used to it like we have. So target=”_blank”>dare to be target=”_blank”> square 8:15pm This Thursday night a Channel 8 studios. It’s up around behind UMD just off Junction Ave.

P.S. The first 3 couples to show up get a copy of our new CD, “It is People!” Currently being poured through Eric Swanson’s butter boxes at Sacred Heart. It’s imminent release will change the Northland’s musical landscape forever.

I could be half a couple. I’m not very shy, but I’m too shy to do this alone. I have a very nice orange polyester dress I could wear.
Sure looks like a vintage Fender electric mandolin the dude is pickin!
This looks amazing. I would dig out a vintage corduroy suit and gladly be your other half, Beverly, but unfortunately I have to work. Watching on T.V. will have to suffice.
We’re currently lighting the studio to make the most of the dance floor! Come on over. Would be nice to know how many to expect, so if you get a chance, give us a call at 218-788-2831. Thanks Tangier, for bringing your sashay to The PlayList!
I guess my bubble machine post got deleted in the PDD troubles. Do you want to borrow it?
Sure, Bring it when you come tonight @ 8:30p! And @Karen the phrase “we’re lighting the studio now for dancing” gets T57 all giddy. Hope we have some dancers.
On now, punks.
Caught the repeat at midnight last night--excellent job, gents! Baci did a great job being interviewed by Karen, staying in character throughout (but then, Chris, when aren’t you in character?). And I now believe no single person has appeared as a guest on “The Playlist” as often PDD’s own Brian Barber.
Props to Bev and Rich Narum’s mom for being the hottest in-studio Tangier-ies (Tangerines?) Thanks for coming and thanks for watching our silly (yet some how very important) Band. The Playlist is a crucial element of the burgeoning local scene… We should ALL support it with some $$ during pledge time. WTG PDD for sponsoring it!
I love the Playlist, it’s fabulous that Duluth’s artists, writers, musicians, and other creative types are receiving the recognition they deserve. This town is smokin’, arts-scene wise!
I think “shaddish” is Yiddish for “schottische”
and “beaufonte” is a beautiful French bouffant.
I like the world of Tangier 57.
My posts are ryfe with opportunities fro wurd nerdery
“ryfe?”
please refudiate.
