Temple Israel debuting remodeled Overman Room with Boyd’s Revival show

The Overman Room at the Temple Israel Synagogue, 1602 E. Second St. in Duluth, has been remodeled. The new carpeting, solid hickory dance floor and other features will be showcased during a dance party on Saturday, May 7, from 7 to 11 p.m., featuring live music by Boyd’s Revival. Admission is a donation of $20 and an optional item for the food shelf. Tickets will be available at the door.

Boyd’s Revival is a rock and blues group organized by Gary Boyd. He recruited ex-cop Mike Adelson, Duluth jewelers Jack Seiler and Dave Blustin, accountant Greg Goldman, and food rep Jeremy Rogenovich to form the band.

I think most of the members of this band, including Boyd and Seiler, played in a band together in high school. A few years ago, they got together to play for their class reunion. This looks like a fun event; even if you didn't attend East high back in the late 1960s.

We need to add that band member Marty Long will be coming in from Atlanta, GA to play keyboard as well. He was a founding member back in our high school days. Mike Blustin, my son, an East Class of '97 grad will be coming as well to sit in.

I should also mention special guest Rick Shefchik, former writer for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and author of the Sam Scarda detective novels will be sitting in with us.
