Not lady’s night at the Duluth Puttin’ Hut

YOUTUBE

Duluth gets a shout out of sorts in this PlayStation ad. I thought they said Duluth Mutton Hut at first, which sounded appealing, but I’m pretty sure it’s puttin.

I don’t think there is a puttin’ hut either, sadly.

  1. Mother Jones magazine also got in a slight dig at Duluth in the December issue while interviewing chef Anthony Bourdain:
“So, after 100 episodes of No Reservations, are you worried you’ll run out of material and be parsing the food of the greater Duluth area?”

  2. Is it Puttin’ Hut or Button Hut?

  3. Puttin Hut sounds like a minigolf outfit.

  4. I’m with Ezra. It’s Puttin’ Hut. He follows up that line with “I’ve seen better swings on a porch.”

  5. That said, I love Anthony Bourdain. I remember once he told a chef that his meal tasted like doll heads.

  6. I saw this on TV about two weeks. It caught me off guard, so I had to head to YouTube to make sure I wasn’t delusional and to figure out what exactly he said. I’ve seen it run a few times since then, particularly on FOX and ESPN.

  7. I did some putting at Duluth’s Miller Hill disc golf course today. It was way better than Playstation.

  9. Capt’n J’s is where it’s at. But, Grandma’s ThrillZone Adventure Place has improved quite a bit — plus you get Lazer Tag against 9 year-olds all day for $12 or $15.

Kendahl Miniature Golf in Cloquet is arguably the best in the area, what with the draw bridge, the water wheel, ramp-o-rama, and whatnot. It’s just a tad disorienting to interrupt a guy in his house eating macaroni and cheese to come and take your money and give you balls.

  10. Heh … you said balls.

  11. Speaking of Joe Mauer and Duluth, was he really at the Bulldogs game on 12/30? There was a rumor going through the stands that he was (and by “going through the stands” I mean the guy behind me said that his buddy saw Joe Mauer, and then the two college girls beside me got real, real excited).

  12. I think the Sheboygan Rotary club is behind this.

Also, Duluth need not fear Anthony Bourdain’s razor wit. Check out No Reservations episodes in Buffalo or rural Maine. Consistent theme of his show: interesting, authentic people and places exist all over.

  13. They’re talking about Duluth , Georgia. Our little town tucked away up in the northlands is not significant enough for national recognition.

  14. Duluth, Georgia is a third the size of Duluth, Minnesota.

  15. But when doing searches, more things come up for Duluth Georgia. It might be smaller, but it’s got more going on.

  16. Duluth, Georgia has more going on? What does that mean, exactly? More….?

  17. It’s Duluth button hut and they are definitely talking about Duluth, Minnesota, Joe Mauer is from St. Paul, hence the reference, as if anyone would give a darn about Duluth anywhere else.

  18. Joe Mauer is also in this Explore Minnesota ad, singing … if we can call it that.
