Captain Beefheart RIP

Don Van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart) passed away. Doc at the Radar Station is one of my all time favorite albums. This guy was an original. Hopefully him and Zappa are enjoying a muffin of their own design in the garage. Run paint, Run Run is genius.

  1. Oh no. I’ll have to give Trout Mask Replica and Bongo Fury a spin this weekend.
With headphones, cuz no one in my house will appreciate or allow it.

  8. Dang, Captain. . . gone, gone, gone. Never got to see this man play but sure wish I woulda. (Glad I got to see Alex Chilton a few times in the 80′s and 90′s before he left too soon.)

In memorial, I suggest you go to your Netflix and order up “Under Review: Captain Beefheart”. . . (the whole Under Review titles are low-budget but very entertaining in my book, certainly better than nothing)

Some favs offa the toppa my head. . . Clear Spot, Electricity, Too Much Time, My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains, Diddy Wah Diddy, Who Do You Think You’re Fooling, Moonchild, Frying Pan. Lo Yo Yo Stuff.
