LCD Projector Recomendation

I’m thinking about getting an LCD projector for work. It needs to be portable, but not compact – I don’t plan on taking it on a plane.  My application is primarily marketing presentations, not heavy on video or high end graphics.  I’ll be using it about twice a month.  Any recommendations for makes, models or vendors?

Whatever you buy, check the cost of the replacement bulbs. A cheap projector may require an extremely expensive bulb.

Browse through B&H Photo for models and customer reviews.

Swan is right. I know many teachers/school librarians who wind up buying a new projector because it is cheaper than replacing just the bulb. It's a total waste.

My partner (who is currently watching the vikings game on a projector setup) recommends Projector Central.

Just purchased a Optoma projector from Newegg.com - purchased for presentations in the field - came highly recommended from another presenter at a conference.

Purchased an external hard drive also and both are shipped UPS for $6.99.

Buy the thing from a local vendor, or at least check to see if their prices are close before you order online. If you have issues with it later, the local vendor might be worth paying a couple of extra bucks. I have used digital projectors from Audio Visual Resources and Compudyne. My work has an HP projector, bought from Compudyne, that is 4-5 years old and has not had a bulb replacement yet.

Newegg is not going to give you a loner projector when you projector dies the morning of a big presentation.
