Site for small reception in Duluth?

I’m in search of a unique venue for a smaller wedding reception of around 80 people in Duluth. Something other than a typical hotel banquet room or similar is preferred. Perhaps a restaurant? Your ideas and info are appreciated!

I LOVE when water surrounds. I have never been on a Vista Fleet tour, but they offer wedding reception info on their web site. Good Luck!

You can rent the Lafayette Square community center on Pk Point. If you serve alcohol you have to hire a security guard. But it's pretty cool, b/c even though it's not fancy, guests can walk on the beach, there's direct access to it. I rented it for a 40th bday party and it worked out fine.

I've gone to parties on the Vista Fleet before, it is pretty fun, only thing is people have to be there on time when the boat docks and can't escape early! But it is a blast.

The Silver Broom Lounge at the Duluth Curling Club can be rented for receptions. It has a great bar, kitchen and dance floor. Contact:

Depot Great Hall too.

My wedding reception was at Glensheen in the winter garden. They even let you use candles, which is unusual. However, there are only two accepted caterers, if that's important to you.

The North Shore Scenic Railroad would love to have you on a train for your reception!

Heysme. Yes! Also did a party on the scenic rail road just this summer. It was a cool and different venue. Although this was a dinner party adn once you sat down at your table for 4 you were there for the entire night/trip. This particular party was catered by the New Scenic Cafe, which was fablious!

JJ Astor. Beautiful restaurant, great food, and an incredible view of Duluth (especially at night).

You can rent the chalet at Chester Bowl pretty cheaply. I'm assuming you'd want an outdoor wedding - the view from the peak is pretty nice. But the chalet would be handy for the reception, particularly if the weather turned.

A couple of outdoor ideas. I did a wedding at Chambers Grove Park in Fond du Lac neighborhood with about 80 people once. It was in the fall with great colors. People could fish if they wanted. Bonus I just learned some more about the history of that area and it is pretty cool. Essentially the place where Ojibwe people stopped their long long westward migration perhaps around 500 years ago.

Fremont Park (ZOO) is also beautiful. That would be a unique location. You might be able to fit 80 people in the shelter there.

This post is maybe the 5th I've seen here on the wedding question. The answers are pretty good, I mean a few people come out of left field, and a few of these seem almost like promotional plants, but basically you get some good unique ideas. PDD community is so cool. Maybe PDD should do a wedding/celebration guide? Listing venues, vendors etc and people's good stories about Duluth weddings.
