The other thing the article didn't directly mention is that the cells were probably grown in some type of animal serum derived from blood. This would be the "broth of other animal products"--and therefore another hurdle to creating a truly vegetarian laboratory meat product.

Let's not forget the not-so-distant past when you would buy a bag of "artificial butter" at the supermarket and mix in the yellow dye pellet by kneading the plastic bag containing the pasty, fat-like substance. Now we don't even think twice about buying margerine, although the color is pre-mixed in now.

And, to be quite honest, it isn't a far cry from the processed, hormone boosted, chemically enhanced-to-appear-delicious confection that we currently select from the McDonald's menu.

I suspect one possibility would be it would be given a series of small shocks to constrict the muscles...

All that aside;

Hmmm... the future...(wavy lines)...(oddly analog static noises)...

Tucked beneath the sausage-eating region of the Bavarian Alps, there's a deep underground cavern, filled with spent hotdog water. Ready to supply the "broth" to Das Uber Weiner Werks, AG. Formerly known as the Large Hadron Collider. Das Uber: Official cylindrical s'meats of 2012.

How does one "exercise" this fake meat. It will not be tender and succulent without some exercise. I propose migrant laborers to massage the fake meat or perhaps some rubber fidgets to allow one to exercise one's fake meat whilst watching reality TV, sitting on the couch wearing your cult's snugglie ... join me in the future
