The Apollo 11 moon landing is one of my earliest memories. I remember the grainy pictures on the TV and my parents taking me out to our front porch and pointing up to the moon. I stood on the iron fence to get a little closer as I tried to comprehend that a man from my hometown was standing on that ball so far away.

This film is great. I especially liked listening to astronaut Alan Bean talk about his experience during the Apollo 12 mission.

Just this weekend, my mother related that she’d always remember when the moon landing took place because she watched it on TV with my father, who was home on leave, about to head off to Vietnam. That was a wrinkle in their experience of that grand national Frozen Moment that I’d never heard before.
