The Duluth Civic Center is the body of government buildings on Fifth Avenue West and First Street:

St. Louis County Courthouse
Soldiers and Sailors Monument
St. Louis County Jail
Duluth City Hall
Federal Building/United States Courthouse and Custom House

The whole thing is a “historic district” on the National Register of Historic Places, which is why preservationists are upset about the old county clink potentially getting demolished.

There were about 30 people at the rally. True, it was small, but this shot certainly does not show everyone. Like I said, I was not there as any sort of professional journalist, so whatever I have here is not intended to give a big or balanced picture of everything that happened. The rally was to get information and action steps to protest the governor’s unallotment. Actually, OG, I think that if the rally were to have represented everyone in the city of Duluth who thought Pawlenty was making bad decisions (or maybe even good decisions) then the whole civic center would have been full. But not everyone who has an opinion always comes out, this is the nature of community organizing.

I wonder how big Chuck Horton’s upcoming civic center rally against Tony Cuneo and Sharla Gardner’s “corruption” will be? I bet it won’t attract everyone who has an opinion … but I bet it WILL attract more professional media attention than this one did. Just a guess.
