Miss you Doug.
Doug was a rare and beautiful person, he left us all better people. I will never think about life and death the same way again. Thank you Doug, for showing us the good road never ends.
With no one else have I witnessed such pure improvisation, such love. I will always miss this unique person. Tangier 57 will never be the same.
My love goes out to Sue and the girls.
He truly was one of the Good Guys and someone I admired. He’ll be missed and never forgotten. All our love and support to the wonderful people he left with us.
i’m often out of the loop as a sub, and so wasn’t aware of what was happening. but found this… rel="nofollow">

i was so looking forward to seeing Doug in the classroom again after his Korean adventures. my heartfelt condolences to those who knew him far better than i did.
So um, what happened…?
Bad Cat, Doug was a beloved teacher at Harbor City International School. He died after a battle with cancer.
It is difficult to put into words the impressions that Doug has left on my heart; and having known him for so few years, can only imagine the memories he stamped on the hearts of so many others who had the pleasure of knowing him throughout his lifetime. I listen with great interest to the stories told by his immediate and extended family, friends and acquaintances, and have come to appreciate that Doug was a man, a husband, a father, an educator, a musician, a friend to many, who through his life journey has shown us that despite our failures, shortcomings and perceived limitations, we all possess a great inner strength to overcome any season of darkness with our faith, hope and determination. Doug was often heard encouraging others to find their “bliss” in whatever they do; and I truly believe his bliss was Susie, Dylan and Jess, as evidenced by the smile that would appear on his face every time any one of them entered a room. His time with us was short but his example of living life to its fullest will last our lifetimes. Doug may be gone from our presence but his spirit lives on in each and everyone of us.
What an incredible concert on Tuesday. I want to thank everyone involved. It was heart wrenching, but I can officially say that it was the most fun and exciting 4 hour funeral celebration of life ever!
