Chris Raabe wins Grandma’s Marathon

Here’s Chris Raabe with a half-mile lead passing Ironic1′s house. He’s the first Minnesotan since Dick Beardsley to win Grandma’s Marathon! Yowza! It was a hot one out there.

It was very cool to see him run down Canal Park Drive to the finish line. (maybe the only “cool” thing about Saturday)
I did the half-marathon, and want to say thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who came out to cheer. You help even a way-back-in-the-pack runner like me feel like a elite runner heading down London Road and Superior Street. I’m already looking forward to next year.
My kid and I ended up in Canal Park yesterday, I don’t think I’ve ever been there during the Marathon. It was actually fun, cheering on the runners (we were there between 1-2:30, so we were cheering on the stragglers). Makes me kinda want to do it next year.
