Surfers Before the Blizzard

Check out this short video snippet of some crazies surfing on Lake Insanity near Lester River today just before the onset of the blizzard.

Thanks for the surf vid, Barrett. I went out hoping to catch some surfers in action but no one was braving the giant waves while I looked on.

Awesome! One of my co-workers actually took this video and emailed it to me. I put it on YouTube and posted it here because I thought it was cool.

Is the guy who surfing's name Joel? I think that's my mom's work kid.

Does anyone remember when we did the world premiere of "unsalted" in Duluth in 2005? That movie was awesome but someone stole my copy. Anyway that's another whole story. I would love to see some more surf and storm shots from yesterday. I went out for a bit and stopped over by the breakwaters in canal park where the waves were going OVER the top of the piers. It was very cool to see. There were like 50 people down there with cameras but nothing posted here at PDD yet. Hope to see some soon. It may seem silly to get this excited about storms but ... why not. Its pretty cool when you think about it.

Stopped at Stoney Point on my way home from work on thursday.
A boarder pulled up (board on roof) and then drove away. Maybe he didn't have time or maybe he was afraid.

Actually, most of the surfing during this storm was around the corner from Stoney Point and protected from the strong winds. Here's some pictures from Friday and Saturday. One person came from as far as buffalo new york to surf the lake during this storm.
